The Bollendorf Plateau on the German side, the Befort Plateau in Luxembourg and the deeply incised Sauer Valley make this route an unforgettable experience. At every turn, the rocky paths in the Luxembourgian sandstone reveal themselves as a genuine El Dorado for rock hikers. The craggy landscape features innumerable sceneries and hues. On the Luxembourgian side, it is known as “Little Luxembourgian Switzerland”. Unusual tufa caverns like the Tränenlay, incredible views and ravines, mystical paths across rocks and roots, impressive stone towers and limitless river panoramas combine to form a fascinating landscape. The historic town centre and castle of Beaufort are a must for everyone interested in culture. But Bollendorf with its road along the Sauer River, Bollendorf Castle, Weilerbach Castle and the Roman “Villa Rustica” also have a great deal to offer.
