Hoesdorf is a small rural village in the municipality of Reisdorf, situated on a plateau near the Our valley.
Hoesdorf lies in the east of the Mullerthal Region on a plateau near the Our Valley and the Luxembourg-German border. Fields, meadows and wooded slopes characterise the peaceful surroundings of this small village.
The Hoesdorf Plateau was of strategic importance during the Second World War. In autumn 1944, American observation and listening posts were stationed here, overlooking the fortifications of the Westwall on the opposite side of the valley. During the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, the area became the scene of heavy fighting.
Today, the cross-border Remembrance Trail leads across the Hoesdorf Plateau. Along the historical circular route, 17 information panels provide insights into the events that took place in this area in 1944 and 1945.
